11/23/09 – GI Receives G-7 Master Printer Qualification

Richmond, Va. – Graphics Innovations announced today the achievement of G-7 Master Printer status, making them the only qualified G-7 (Gracol-7) Master Printer in Central Virginia. The G-7 Master qualification mark means the company uses the most modern technology, techniques, proofing and press controls, and standards required to produce a close visual match from proof to print, and from one G7 press to other G7 presses.

“Being G7 qualified means that we can have greater control over our quality, reductions in our make-ready and have better proof-to-press matching than anyone in our area,” said Pat Patterson, President of Graphics Innovations, LLC.

In 1996, a graphics arts task force was formed by the Graphic Communications Association (now IDEAlliance) to develop a document containing general guidelines and recommendations that could be used as a reference source across the industry for quality color printing. Since that time, the GRACoL Working Group has developed, maintained and published printing guidelines that have become de facto standards on many pressrooms.

The mission of GRACoL is to improve communications and education in the graphic arts by developing best practices that reflect the influence and impact of new technologies in the workflow of commercial offset lithography. GRACoL is a registered trademark of IDEAlliance.

Graphics Innovations, LLC began as the in-house printing department of envelope maker Colortree Inc. of Virginia, Richmond. Graphics Innovations was founded in 2003 after spinning off from Colortree, for which it continues to produce Colortree‚s envelope needs. The company has since grown into an award-winning specialty printer specializing in small to medium sized orders (< 1,000,000 pieces) of fliers, brochures, letters, newsletters, self-mailers, business reply cards, postcards, photocards, envelopes and other similarly printed products, many of which end up in the direct mail stream.
