Customer FTP Instructions

As a service to our customers, Graphics Innovations maintains a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site used to exchange files over the Internet. Many files will be small enough to attach to an email; however, larger files (>2 MB) should be exchanged using our FTP site, which prevents email size quotas from being exceeded. Both email and FTP exchange files will need to be prepared in accordance with the specifications in How to Prepare Files for FTP Exchange. Only compressed should be uploaded.

To utilize Graphics Innovations’ FTP site, contact your Account Manager or complete the request under the heading of “Contact Us” to receive your personal User Name and Password.

TO UPLOAD FILES TO OUR FTP SITE

FTP client software will be needed to upload the compressed files (see How to Prepare Files for FTP Exchange) to our FTP site. Files will be available for 48 hours, after which time they will be deleted.

Stable FTP client software for the Mac includes Cyberduck and Fetch; for the PC, FileZilla is available. Most FTP client software employs the same basic steps for downloading files although the look and terminology of each will be slightly different.

Once you have received your unique User Name/Password and have properly compressed your files for uploading, access Graphics Innovations’ FTP server by opening your FTP software. Then proceed using the following guidelines, depending on which FTP client software you have.

Cyberduck — (Mac)

Open File>Open Connection from the menu bar. You will be prompted to enter the server name ftp.graphicsinnovations.com, as well as your User Name and Password. After this information is entered, select “Connect” and you will be taken to your location on GI’s FTP site. Then select File>Upload from the menu and you will be prompted to navigate to the location of your file. Once located and selected, click “Upload” again and your file will begin uploading immediately. The speed that the file uploads is dependent upon your company’s Internet speed, and large files can take up to 90 minutes to completely upload.
